  Returned a shirt to swap the colour but due to the item (purchased only a few weeks ago) now being in a sale I was only credited with half the original cost. The net result was that I had to pay £45 for a £29. shirt.
  I complained but was told "tough" thats our rules.
  They choose to devalue the shirt not me.
  The result is they have lost a life long customer.
  The sad thing was the attitude of the assistant whose surly manner was to the point of well we have got more customers.
  Not for much lomger I suspect as I will never use them again for myself or my children.

  I live outside of the EU and have been a loyal M&S shopper and shareholder all of my life. Decided to treat myself to a little on-line shopping and have it shipped to me. Very disappointed to find that M&S do not deduct the amount of VAT included in the published prices on their website for international sales; effectively, they make a much higher margin from their international customers by keeping the VAT for themselves. They say on their website that this saves them from having to publish two..
